A 48-year-old Pastor of “The Light House Gospel Church” Oluwo, Owode Egba, in Obafemi Owode local government area, Pastor Michael Abiodun has been arrested by officers from the Ogun State Police Command for defiling and impregnating a 12 years old member of his church (name withheld).

The Pastor was arrested as a result of information that the victim’s mother joined the church as a result of a spiritual issue that resulted in the deaths of two of her daughters, which was received at Owode Egba divisional headquarters. In order to prevent the victim from the same calamity, she ran to the church for deliverance.

The victim’s mother was sent to the victim’s pastor, a father of three, on a fateful day for special prayer, but when she arrived, the pastor took her into a room inside the church and forcibly had carnal knowledge of her, which led to pregnancy. Upon learning of the incident, CSP Olasunkanmi Popoola, the DPO for the Owode Egba division, sent his investigators to the location, where the rogue Pastor was quickly apprehended.

On interrogation, he confessed to the commission of the crime but blamed it on the devil. He further confessed been the person who disvirgined the victim who is a JSS 2 student.
The mother of the victim explained to the police that since her daughter has not been menstruating before, it was difficult for her to know that she was pregnant until seven months after.

The victim, who gave birth to a baby three months ago, told the police that the Pastor had threatened her with dire consequences if she told anybody about what had occurred between them, which is why she had kept it a secret from her mother.

The state police command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the event and said state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the suspect to be transferred to state criminal investigation departments for further investigation and potential prosecution.
