Ogun state police have arrested 84-year-old Stephen Jack for reportedly having unlawful carnal knowledge with an eight-year-old girl (name withheld).
According to a statement made by SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect, who is a resident of Ijebu Ode’s Okun Owa area, was apprehended after the victim’s father reported that his daughter was bleeding from her private area and that when he asked the young girl what was wrong, she told him that the suspect had defiled her.
“Upon receiving the information, SP Murphy Salami of the DPO Obalende division sent his detectives to the spot, where the unruly old man was apprehended.
According to investigation, the elderly man is a local known pedophile. For medical help, the victim has been transported to the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode,” Oyeyemi stated.
He further stated that the suspect has been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and potential prosecution at the direction of the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole.
