Authorities said Jarion’s mother was smoking marijuana with another adult in the passenger seat when the boy raised his gun. He was taken to hospital and succumbed to his injuries at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 29.

“Right above the right brow, it was a contact wound to the forehead, according to coroner Gerry Cvitanovich.
Police have not made any arrests but detectives confirmed that an investigation will take place.

Mr Lopinto said: “I don’t think it was appropriate to make an arrest at this point.

“They just lost a child and it certainly wasn’t intentional by any means.”

According to Mr. Lopinto, it is believed that the youngster discovered the rifle under the seat.

The boy’s father, according to the authorities, owned the weapon.

The Sheriff’s Office is now warning gun owners to secure their firearms following the tragedy.
