Dr. Olajide Adediran, often known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor of Lagos State, officially announced and presented Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running mate on Tuesday.
According to media sources, Akindele was selected as the candidate’s running mate for the coveted position for few main reasons.
She shares a hometown with the current Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hsmzat, in Ikorodu and the Lagos East Senatorial District, which is one of the reasons.
She is also a member of the local royal family, a source claimed.
Funke made a video on her instagram page on Tuesday, revealing her reasons for becoming a running mate.
She said, I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and enhance the wellbeing of our people, especially the underprivileged youth, women, and girl children.
“In addition to accepting this enormous responsibility, I have made the commitment to work relentlessly and support Jandor in his unquenchable passion to see our beloved Lagos reach its full potential.
The Lagos native, who was born in Ikorodu, left out the name of her husband, Bello, when she gave her name at the end of the video.
Her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, well known by his stage as JJC Skillz, announced their separation two weeks prior to this.
