Police officers in Rivers State have freed 15 kids who had been abducted from various locations in Port Harcourt and its surroundings.
It was learnt that the police had also arrested a fake reverend sister who is one of the main leaders of the gang kidnapping the kids.
This was revealed on Tuesday at a press conference in Port Harcourt by the state’s commissioner of police, Friday Eboka.
It is expected that charges against the fake reverend sister will be filed in court soon.
Situations like the one in Rivers are common in Nigeria. In the Valentino Area of Ondo town, Ondo State, dozens of children were found in a church’s underground apartment in July.
The church’s basement flat was used as a holding facility for more than 40 children.
The children were spotted in a police patrol van as they were transported to the station, and videos of the incident quickly went viral.
