The African Award for Strengthening Peace will be presented to President Buhari in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania on Monday, January 16.

According to a statement made by Femi Adesina, Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity, the President will get the honor for his leadership in advancing peace on the continent by regular interventions, advice, and a conciliatory position.

The presidential spokeswoman mentioned that the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum established the prize in 2014 to suggest fresh approaches to embrace inclusive citizenship and advance peace. He continued by saying that the President will speak at the Third Forum of the African Conference for Peace and focus on the African Peace Process.

He stated that Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs, Bashir Salihi Magashi, the minister of defense, the national security adviser, Mohammed Monguno, and Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the director general of the national intelligence agency, would all be accompanying the president.
