Chelsea has signed Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo for a sum of £100 million, which might rise to a British club record of £115 million.
On Friday, Liverpool and the 21-year-old Ecuadorian star reached a £111 million agreement.
“I didn’t have to think twice when Chelsea called me, I just knew I wanted to sign for the club,” Caicedo stated.
“It’s a dream come true to be here and I can’t wait to get started with the team.”
However, Moises Caicedo preferred Chelsea, and on Sunday evening, after a string of approaches were turned down, they eventually triumphed with a bid.

Following the £107 million acquisition of Argentina player Enzo Fernandez in January, Chelsea would shatter the British club record again in 2023 if they pay the entire £115 million asking price.
In a statement, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, the co-sporting directors at Chelsea, stated that “Moises has proved himself as a standout player in European football over the past 18 months.”
Brighton’s director of football, David Weir, believes Chelsea are signing “one of the top midfielders in the world”.
