David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has tasked Osun State’s current governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, to congratulate the state’s newly elected governor, Ademola Adeleke.
In the July governor’s race in Osun, senator Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party defeated Oyetola, the nominee of the All Progressive Congress.
The APC won the remaining 13 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, according to the total votes recorded by the Independent Electoral Commission, while the PDP won 17 of them.
However, Oyetola has challenged the results, requesting that the Osogbo Election Petition Tribunal annul the election.
The governor claimed in his appeal that there were numerous anomalies in the election.
He added that Adeleke should not have been proclaimed the winner because, as a result of submitting a forgery to the Independent National Electoral Commission, he was not eligible to run in the election in the first place.
However, Davido, Adeleke’s nephew, has requested that the governor congratulate his uncle on the victory.
Davido wrote in a tweet on Saturday;
“Your excellency sir, @GboyegaOyetola, when will you congratulate the incoming governor of your state, @AAdeleke_01?”
Pointing the controversial 2018 governorship election which held in the state, the singer continued;
“In 2018, my uncle congratulated you even though it was stolen. Do the right thing baba, one love.”
