The Central Court which is popularly known as Old Bailey, United Kingdom has come to say that the trail hearing of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu’s and his wife, Beatrice over human organ trafficking will not hold.

Recall that the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu’s and his wife were being charged with Dr. Obinna Obeta, on the allegation of them wanting to make payment for the procurement of an organ for Sonia, their daughter from one Mr. David Nwamini.

Following this allegation, the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu’s was detained in a UK prison after his arrest on the 23rd of June.

However, according to latest report, the court said they won’t be sitting; this is as a result of the non-availability of Sonia, whose case was established.

“The court official didn’t categorically say whether the Ekweremadu’s sickly graduate daughter, Sonia, is now a defendant of the case, for which her parents were arrested. The Old Bailey official said they won’t have to wait for long, as the “case will have to be relisted for sometime during the week”, the report added.

The court official however maintained that although Monday, 31st of October 2022 was fixed when the couple and their co-defendant appeared before the judge on the 4th of August, Sonia however wasn’t listed in the hearing back then, adding, “the judge will not be hearing the case because there’s no counsel for Sonia.”
