Along the Sinau-Kenu route in the Baruten LGA of Kwara State, the Nigerian Customs Service’s Joint Border Patrol Team (JBPT) Sector 3 was ambushed.

After evacuating some abandoned forty bags of rice and thirty jerry cans of PMS, group of thugs shot erratically and threw other deadly objects at the personnel in transit.

While one of the officer was killed, three others suffered injuries of varying intensity and are receiving medical care at an unnamed hospital.

The deceaced, ASCI Saheed Aweda, was burried in his hometown of Popogbona in the Ilorin West Local Government of Kwara State, according to a press release signed by the Nigeria Customs Service Public Relations Officer Kwara Command, Chado Zakari.

The Joint Border Patrol Team’s (JBPT) Coordinator, Compt. Olugboyega Peters, has ordered a thorough investigation to track down the criminals.
