This was as civil society organisation, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, called on the anti-graft agency to release Okechukwu or charge him to court.

Sources reported that Okechukwu was arrested on January 29, 2022 on charges of conspiracy, abuse of office and embezzlement of public funds which amounts N1.3 billion.

He visited the Abuja anti-corruption headquarters to accept the invitation but was later arrested.

However, when they are contacted on Saturday, EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said that Okechukwu had been released on bail, although the investigation is still ongoing.

EFCC has been called to release Okechukwu or take him to a competent court for prosecution because Nigeria is not a banana republic.
