According to information given on Thursday to the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court in the United Kingdom, which is hearing the case of alleged organ trafficking involving the former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, David Ukpo, the kidney donor, is actually 21 years old and not a minor.
Prosecutors reportedly notified the court on Friday that all available evidence showed the donor in question was actually 21 years old and not the frequently reported 15 years old.
The case was transferred to the Central Criminal Court and adjourned until August 4 when Ekweremadu and his wife both appeared in court on Thursday. They both entered a not guilty plea to the accusation of organ harvesting.
In addition, it was ordered that they should remain in detention until the adjourned date.
