A former Deputy Reactor of Benue State Polytechnic was killed over the weekend. This event took place at Ugbokolo. A lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics, Oche Eneche was also shot dead by the criminals. These notorious criminals have been tormenting motorist and commuters on the busy Otukpo-Eke-Ugbokolo-Otukpa highway.
The former Deputy Reactor murder came as the Information Officer of Ukum Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue State, Mr. Orbunde Ephraim, was, on Saturday killed. He was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Zaki Biam, the Local Government headquarters.

The immediate past chairman of Ukum LGA, Steve Ayua, said the gunmen tailed the former Deputy Reactor to his house. The newly appointed Council’s Information Minister was shot in the stomach.
Ayua had this to say, “I appointed him (Ephraim) the Information Officer of Ukum LGA. But I don’t know if the new chairman did retain him not. However, he was shot last night and was rushed to a private hospital. Sadly he didn’t get immediate medical attention and he eventually died.”
Meanwhile, the former Deputy Reactor was reportedly murdered by gunmen. This turn of event took place on Friday evening while he was on his way back to Ugbokolo from Otukpo in the company of his wife.
Information gathered says, “ he drove into the gunmen and they flagged him down. And they didn’t waste a minute, as he slowed down, they shot and killed him.
They also made an attempt to kidnap his wife, but because of the security men who were not too far from the incident rushed to where the gunshot came from. The armed men on seeing the approaching military personnel ran into the bush leaving the woman behind.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive the detail of the incidents.
