Four persons on Friday narrowly escaped death in Abuja when a truck crushed a Toyota Corolla along Kubwa Expressway.
The incident happened around 1pm close to popular “Charlie Boy” bus stop involving the Toyota Corolla with registration number BWR 420 EY with two persons on board and a tipper carrying two persons as well.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to newsmen, he said the two vehicles collided on the highway when the driver of the Toyota Corolla attempted a reverse against the traffic in total violation of traffic rules.
The driver of the tipper who was coming behind the Toyota rammed into the car and crushed it beyond repair.
It was gathered that the truck’s collision with the car occurred despite the driver’s repeated attempts to prevent it. The Toyota’s two occupants suffered minor injuries during the incident and were sent to the hospital for treatment.
When the scene was visited, a rescue team which included the officers of the Nigerian police and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were on ground in an attempt to rescue the victims.
The incident caused gridlock on the road as motorists were spotted diverting to alternative roads.
While this was happening, the sympathizers urged that strong measures should be taken by the appropriate authorities to curb reckless driving on the federal capital territory’s highways.
