Gunmen apparently dressed in military uniform attacked commuters that were travelling on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, on Tuesday.

The gunmen, which were suspected to be kidnappers. They stormed the road from the bush nearby before the Sagamu interchange, en route Lagos. Once they were out they began shooting sporadically at commuters in the 18 passenger inter-state bus.

According to one of the victims, who craved anonymity: “We (passengers) were lucky to escape the gunmen. However, many of us were injured by bullets and our bus was badly damaged too.”

Another video showing a man, who man survived bullet wounds, spoke about his experience. He said: “I thought I was dead, having been shot by the attackers.

“They faced our vehicle shooting at us. We all lay down except the driver who was the target. They thought we were all dead and retreated into the bush.”

The joint patrol team of police officers from Ogun and Oyo state arrived at the scene later.
