Chinyere Obilor by, a female police sergeant working in Imo State, has been killed by gunmen.
At the Ihitte junction on the Owerri-Aba Road in Owerri, gunmen ambushed the cop, killing her, and her colleagues on Wednesday.
She and her coworkers were reportedly on duty when the gunmen in the Busimo minibus attacked them.
They allegedly came out of a nearby bush and started shooting at the police officers.
Another who was killed is a yet-to-be-identified person who is said to be a civilian.
The female officer of the law worked for the state police command’s Highway Patrol squad.
According to a source, the police had taken possession of the perpetrators’ abandoned car.
A source said:
“The woman was dedicated to her duties. She was killed in a gun battle when criminals ambushed them at Ihitte junction on Owerri- Aba Road. She was from Mgbidi in Imo. A mother of four children who was very cheerful is gone. This is so painful.
“She was attached to the Highway Patrol Team Unit. The hoodlums abandoned their vehicle (Busimo) which they came in with. It has been recovered and brought to Owerri.”
As of the time this report was filed, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, have not made a comment regarding the incident.
