Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)  have arrested Haruna Favour, a 25-year-old pregnant lady.

Favour was arrested on Friday, September 9, with 82 pinches of methamphetamine, various quantities of Loud, Arizona, and Colorado variants of cannabis and codeine-based cough syrup in Auchi, Edo state.

On September 11, the arrest was confirmed by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.

Also, in Kogi State, a suspect, Paul Ali, aged 47, was arrested on the Okene-Abuja highway with 1,404 bottles of Codeine based syrup weighing 190.94kg and 2,040 ampoules of pentazocine injection coming from Onitsha, Anambra State to Sokoto State.

According to information released by the House of Representatives last year, Mexican drug traffickers have been using Nigerian laboratories to produce Mkpuru Mmiri since 2016.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA, was then ordered by the parliamentarians to pursue dealers of the hard narcotics Mkpuru-Mmiri and other methamphetamine in order to eradicate them from the country.
