Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, has vowed to privatize the country’s refineries if elected president in 2023.

The PDP candidate stated he will set aside $10 billion from refinery sales to support the small and medium-sized businesses of young Nigerians on Monday during the PDP’s presidential rally in Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

He mentioned the four refineries to be sold,  the Port Harcourt refinery, Warri refinery, and Kaduna refinery which have not been functioning for years now.

He said:

“I am going to set aside $10 billion so that we can empower our young men and women in their small and medium businesses.

“People are trying to know where I will obtain $10 billion. I will acquire the money if I privatize the refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna.

The former vice president promised that his administration would reform Africa’s most populous country as he pleaded with the enormous Lagos population to elect the PDP to power in the coming election.

In doing so, he urged the people to hold their leaders accountable while promising to give more authority and funding to both state and local governments.

The PDP candidate cautioned Lagos residents against electing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to both state and federal offices.

According to him;

A single family has governed the state for 23 years.” He did not name any particular family

“The APC government is lying to you about developing Lagos. The Federal government built the third mainland bridge, Agege motor road, and other road infrastructures in the state.

“By electing Jandor as your governor, you may liberate yourselves from a family government that has ruled for more than 23 years.
