Passengers were stranded at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on Monday morning, January 23, due to a strike by members of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO).
Following the strike, some international and domestic aircraft at the airport were reportedly grounded.
According to BusinessDay, the workers who are protesting want an increase in their pay, among other things.
According to a NAHCO source, management met with employees on Sunday to discuss the scheduled strike but told them that the situation will be resolved quickly.
According to one of the affected passengers; “We were told that the strike affected almost all the flights in Nigeria that are working with NAHCO. They said Qatar had to go back to their base (Doha) because they can’t stay in Nigeria.”
