In the early hours of Wednesday, the robbers who had earlier shot dead a gateman at the Mabila Hotel in Ikorodu, Lagos State, also robbed some employees of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board who were staying there.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman for the Lagos Command, verified the occurrence.
He claimed that the JAMB officials had moved to a secure location.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board officer, Prof. Odunsi, who was staying at the hotel, was robbed of his two phones, one HP laptop, and N20,000 in cash, according to the PPRO.
He further said that two female JAMB officials who were staying at the hotel had their jewelry and phones stolen.
The statement stated that the attackers shot the hotel’s gateman, identified only as Peter, 40, as he attempted to stop them from departing.
He claimed that the gateman was taken to an unknown hospital, where he later died, and that the body was then taken to the General Hospital in Ikorodu and put in a morgue.
According to Hundeyin, the police received a distress call at around 2.40 a.m. on Wednesday reporting that some thugs had broken into the hotel at No. 60, Omodisu St., Asolo-Owutu, in the Agric region of Ikorodu.
He claimed that Owutu Division police arrived at the area right after after receiving the call, and that when they noticed a police van speeding by, all of the criminals fled in a Lexus Jeep.
No stone would be left unturned, according to CP Abiodun Alabi, commissioner of police for Lagos State. A thorough search for the suspects has been ordered, he said.
