Mason Greenwood appeared as a second-half substitute in Getafe’s 3-2 win over Osasuna, his first appearance in senior football in 20 months.

The Manchester United forward hasn’t played since January 2022, when he was detained in connection with suspicions involving online content.
On February 2, 2023, the attempted rape and assault charges against the 21-year-old were withdrawn.
After a six-month internal inquiry at United, he signed a loan agreement with Getafe after both the team and Greenwood decided it would be “most appropriate” for him to rebuild his career “away from Old Trafford”.

The Getafe fans cheered enthusiastically when Greenwood was introduced, but there was a tiny group of Osasuna supporters who responded in a different area of the stadium.
Greenwood’s shot was stopped, resulting in the corner that Getafe scored from to go into the top half of the standings.
A Spanish domestic abuse charity has criticized Getafe’s choice to sign Greenwood.
Because the England striker is no longer under criminal investigation, the club has defended its choice.
Mason Greenwood
Mason Will John Greenwood, an English professional footballer, was born on October 1, 2001.
He currently plays forward for Getafe of La Liga while on loan from Manchester United of the Premier League.
Greenwood was accused of attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm in October 2022.
Key witnesses had departed the case, according to the Crown Prosecution Service, and new information had come to light, so there was “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction” after the charges were dropped in February 2023.

The player, who had previously been ranked among the top five players in Europe, became the focus of a United internal investigation.
Greenwood said he had “made mistakes” and accepted his “share of responsibility” in a statement from last month, but he also maintained: “I did not do the things I was accused of.”
“Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged,” United stated in a statement in August.
