There was an attempt to by some terrorist to attack the Wawa Military Cantonment in Borgu Local Government of Niger State on Saturday night, this attempt was thwarted as the army intervened and killed eight of the terrorists.
Report gathered that the intended attack which would have posed as another major setback to the military and bloodshed in the adjourning communities was thwarted by the joint efforts of the Nigerian Air Force and the Army that are in that community.
It was actually gathered that the purpose of these terrorists was actually to set some of their colleague that were in the military confinement free and possibly attack the neighboring community.
While eight of the terrorist were killed, an unconfirmed source said that three of them, and this includes their leader, was captured by the Military. Some of these terrorist were said to have run-away with bullet wounds whereas some of the soldiers also did sustain some injuries as the result of the fireworks.
The military has heightened up security around the barracks and also the area to help forestall any kind of possible reprisal from the terrorist.
Troops eliminate terrorist in Kaduna
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army on Operation Forest Sanity, troop 1 Division were in fierce encounter with terrorist at the Maidaro, Kagi Hill, Kusharki and Anguwan Madaki in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu who is the Director of Army Public Relations, in a statement he made said that; “others fled in disarray.”
He went on tom say that the: “The gallant troops recovered two AK-47 rifles with two rounds of 7.62mm special, one automatic pump action gun with three cartridges, six Dane guns, three locally fabricated pistols with one 9mm round and four motorcycles.”
