Michael Benjamin, better known by his stage name Mikaben, a singer from Haiti, died suddenly after fainting on stage while doing a performance.

The 41-year-old was performing onstage in Paris with the Haitian konpa band CaRiMi on Saturday, October 15, when he slumped.

The online video of the concert shows Mikaben leaving the stage before suddenly collapsing on the ground in front of the audience.

Frantz Duval, the editor of a Haitian daily, first informed followers that something was wrong as the situation unfolded live on Twitter. Mickael Guirand, the singer, then ordered the fans to clear out.

Guirand said

“End of the concert. We must evacuate the room. It’s very complicated. We need prayers.”

Mikaben is said to have suffered a heart attack.

Announcing his death on Twitter, the management of the Accor Arena in eastern Paris, where the singer was performing before the tragic incident happened, posted on Twitter, saying;

“He died after suffering a seizure on stage and despite the efforts of emergency services”.

Since then, his colleagues, friends, family, and fans have flooded to social media to mourn his tragic demise.
