The National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Lami Mai Rigima, queen of a prominent drug cartel, for supplying psychoactive substances to smugglers in Taraba, months after she was declared wanted.

The 40-year-old drug queen caught the attention of the drug enforcement agency when a group of smugglers took over the country in 2021 and early this year pointed her as their supplier.

According to the NDLEA statement Wednesday, Lami’s search paid off on April 4, 2022, when an agency employee tracked her to her hiding place in the village of Iware in the Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba.

According to him, “the search for Lami began in October 2021 after the arrest, prosecution and conviction of Abdullahi Madaki, a 50-year-old drug dealer,

“After a short time, Madaki returned to the illegal trade, and Lami was still his supplier.

However, he was arrested again on February 13, and another trafficker, Jamilu Hassan, 20, was also arrested on February 24 as part of the Lami supply chain, he said.
