The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman—identified as Chioma Okafor and a 19-year teenager—Nweke Joshua. They’ve been arrested for using toy guns to rob traders in the state.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi released an official statement on the incident.

He said the suspects were arrested last week Friday during an operation. This operation took place in Adesan, Mowe, in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

Abimbola noted that “Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Mowe Division, SP Folake Afeniforo, quickly mobilized the division patrol team. The team and men of the So Safe Corps were taken to the scene where the two suspects were arrested.

On searching them, it was discovered that they actually came to rob the shop with toy guns. This toy gun looked perfectly like original pistol. On interrogation, Nweke Joshua informed the police that it was Chioma that came up with the idea of carrying out the robbery. This is in order for them to have some money.

Oyeyemi mentioned that the state commissioner of Police in Ogun State has directed that the suspects be taken to the state Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation.
