A 21-year-old guy named Temple Samuel has been detained by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing and selling his boss’ Lexus ES 330 in the state’s Ogba area.
In a statement he released on Wednesday in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest.
According to him, operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) detained the suspect and his three accomplices.
Samuel was detained along with three other people in the Ogba region of the state: Benjamin Bassey, 32; Chukwuemeka Okorie, 29; and Joshua Agboche, 37; they had planned to sell the car together.
“Research showed that the suspect, who works at his boss’ Egbeda car wash, drove the car containing his boss’ iPhone X and iPhone 13 to Bassey’s home in Ikeja in the midnight hours.
Additionally, he transferred N75,000 fraudulently from his boss’ account, the witness claimed.
Samuel allegedly sold the vehicle with the intention of utilizing the earnings to pay for his relocation abroad, according to the police image-maker.
“He claimed that the suspect had prepared arrangements to fund his departure from the country using the money from the sale of the car and other goods he had stolen.
Hundeyin claimed that CP Abiodun Alabi, the commissioner of police, had ordered that the case be transferred over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Pani, for more research and potential prosecution.
