President Buhari has come out to express his confidence that Tinubu will emerge winner of the forthcoming general election. He mentioned this on Wednesday in an interview in the UK after meeting with HRM, King Charles III in Buckingham Palace.
According to President Buhari, APC is fortunate to have Tinubu as its presidential candidate ahead of its forthcoming election.
When asked about the chances of APC in the 2023 election, Buhari said: “what are the chances of my party not winning the election? We are going to win the election.
President Buhari added that “Tinubu is a very well-known politician in the country. He was a two term governor in Lagos State, the most resourceful and visited state. So, I do think the party is fortunate to have him as a candidate.”
Recall that Tinubu contested in the presidential primaries in June alongside the Yemi Osibanjo. Other contestant included; Senate president Ahmed Lawan and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
About 2,300 delegates voted in the contest that produced Tinubu. He pulled out a total of 1, 271 votes. That is over four times the vote of his closes rival, Amechin who had 316 votes.
Tinubu will be contesting in the presidency in 2023. He’ll be doing that alongside frontline contenders including Atiku Abubakar of PDP, Rabiu Kwankwaso of NNPP and Peter Obi of LP.
