The days when people believed that churches were holy places where crimes shouldn’t be committed are long gone. These appear to be lost times in Nigeria.
On the premises of the Living Faith Church, which is situated in the Elebele Community of the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, a security guard named Anthony Egbo, 37, was murdered and beheaded.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing his disfigured body and slit throat on early Thursday morning.
According to Daily Sun, the church’s assistant pastor reportedly found his remains.
According to Mr. Famous Egbo, the youth president of the Elebele Community, the victim’s remains was found on Thursday about 5.50 am.
“He had been beheaded when they spotted him. Some people believed it might have been an instance of ritual killing because his throat was missing,” he said.
Asinim Butswat, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the incident when reached.
Butswat reported that the attack “was at the head region and his throat was slit” according to a report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the Kolo neighborhood.
The Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, has thousands of branches around the country, and David Oyedepo serves as its presiding bishop.
