The Ukranian Ministry of defence has released shocking photos showing the horrific condition of a Ukranian soldier captured by Russia.
- Before capture
After the UAE facilitated a prisoner swap between Ukraine and Russia, Mykhailo Dianov, a Ukrainian soldier, was freed by the Russian government on September 21.
- When released
Mykhailo Dianov assisted in defending the Azovstal plant in Mariupol prior to his capture. After the release of a picture showing him smiling despite having suffered a serious arm injury inside the Azovstal steelworks during the early phases of the war, he became a trending topic in Ukraine.
According to the Russian ministry of defense, Diano claimed that he did not receive proper medical care throughout his four months in a Russian prison.
The Ukranian ministry of defence tweeted on Friday evening;
“Ukrainian soldier Mykhailo Dianov is among the fortunate ones: in contrast with some of his fellow POWs, he survived russian captivity. This is how russia “adheres” to the Geneva Conventions. This is how russia continues the shameful legacy of Nazism.”
