Musk, who took over as the social media platform’s CEO on Friday, October 28, wrote on Sunday, October 30 that “the entire verification process is being overhauled right now.”
Additionally, the company intends to increase the monthly cost of its optional, premium Twitter Blue subscription from $4.99 to $19.99. According to internal communications and sources familiar with the situation, The Verge stated that the pricing is susceptible to change.
To make its membership on line with the price increase, Twitter will introduce new features, such as verification.
Elon Musk intends to impose a fee on verified users in order to maintain their status.
The Verge reports that existing verified users have 90 days after the new Twitter Blue’s introduction to sign up for it or they will lose their blue checkmarks.
The current version of Twitter Blue was introduced roughly a year ago and provides customers with extra personalization options as well as a method to see content from some publishers without advertisements.
Musk has been open about both his intention to rework the platform’s verification procedure and his ambition to increase subscriber numbers to make up half of Twitter’s revenue.
