Senator Kashim Shettima, the APC’s vice presidential candidate, has given an explanation for why he wore sneakers to the Nigerian Bar Association’s conference earlier this week at the Eko Atlantic in Lagos.

According to reports, Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, made fun of Shettima for his attire at the NBA Conference, saying that if Tinubu’s running mate didn’t know how to dress, how would he handle Nigeria’s challenges.

In a video that has gained widespread attention online, Shettima stated that he had been informed that a presidential candidate had been meeting with some individuals to incite unrest at the conference and that the NBA conference’s crowd was hostile.

The former governor of Borno State emphasized that he had worked as a banker before entering politics and that he chose to dress casually in order to “sub” the unfriendly crowd.

Shettima said;

“I was in Lagos for the NBA conference.

“It used to hold at Eko Hotel and was largely funded by the APC government of Lagos state.

He continued; “Subsequently, they moved it to Eko Atlantic; a product of an idea sanctioned by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“One of the candidates, he funded his agents and they held meetings for 3 consecutive nights to cause mischief.

“When I was told that it was a hostile crowd, I deliberately wore sneakers.”
